Probably the largest organic farm in Malta, Vincent’s Eco Estate is much more than just a farm. It hosts an organic shop at the farm gate, a traditional farmhouse which is open to guests and events and several areas that cater for outdoor events such as kids’ parties, camping and open air festivals.

Upon entering past the farm shop, a relaxing aura can be felt as one walks past the vineyards on both sides of the rural road that leads to the main fields, edged with a historic rubble wall embellished with prickly pears that serve to divide the fields and as natural barriers. Once at the heart of the farm, there are some large date palms and some ancient olive trees that tirelessly bear their fruit which is at the heart of Mediterranean cuisine.

With such large grounds, the farm is maintained by a team that welcome the public for open days, educational tours and school visits and also organise festivals and various kinds of events. The farm consists of a substantial area of garigue land which serves as a buffer from conventional agriculture and grows a wide range of crops and includes a small area with free range hens. There are many olive trees which provide their fruits in Autumn and are pressed into fine olive oil.

Overall, this farm harbours huge potential as although it consists of several small plots of land, with only a few large plots, it is amalgamated under one entity which can serve to harmonise objectives and enable concerted action into economies of scale.
