About the Ambassador
In May of 2022, Sonya Sammut was appointed as the first national Ambassador for Organic and Sustainable Food. The primary task of this role is to promote the sustainability of food in the Maltese Islands. One of the first missions as Ambassador was the drafting, coordination, and implementation of a National Organic Action Plan. Launched in 2023, the Plan is not in its implementation phase, with the ultimate aim to increase organically managed agricultural land to 5% of total agricultural land in the Maltese Islands.

This knowledge can help us rediscover our connection with food, elevating local produce to a symbol of quality, sustainability, and cultural identity.
